We Invest in Our Community
At Mears Transportation
Mears Transportation has a rich tradition of serving our community by supporting nonprofit organizations and providing much-needed philanthropic resources to local organizations. Each year, Mears gives back to the community. We support dozens of organizations, fundraisers and not-for-profits either through monetary support or the donation of “in-kind” or heavily discounted transportation services. Some of the organizations we support include:
30 Years with Give Kids the World
At the Give Kids the World Village in Kissimmee, Florida, children struggling with life-threatening illnesses and their families enjoy a weeklong, cost-free vacation that includes accommodations, meals, donated attraction tickets and more. Mears has provided all of the transportation to the families at no cost or steeply discounted rates for decades. Since its inception, Give Kids the World has served over 100,000 families from all 50 states and 70 countries. Mears Transportation Group takes great pride in helping make a difference in the lives of these families. Their enriching arts and science programming, health and wellness activities, career opportunities and social support serve more than 3,600 students in the City of Orlando. Their innovative and diversified year-round curriculum is designed to give children important life skills and the tools to have a successful future. Russell Home for Atypical Children
The Russell Home in South Orlando is the only private, non-profit facility of its kind for severely handicapped children in Central Florida. For nearly 20 years, Mears has supported the Home through its holiday raffle and toy drive, raising several thousand dollars each year to assist the home and these special children. To learn more about the Russel Home, their upcoming events, to volunteer, or donate, please visit their website at: https://russellhome.org/
Annual School Supply Giveaway
Each year, Mears hosts a fun-filled school supply giveaway for our employees and their families. Hundreds of students receive a supply bag filled with everything they need to start the school year, and the event also includes a blood drive, free vision screenings and blood pressure checks, and raffle drawings.
IDignity helps the disadvantaged in Central Florida obtain the personal identification that is crucial to enabling them to become self-sufficient. IDignity coordinates events for hundreds of homeless or otherwise disadvantaged individuals to walk them through the paperwork and logistics of obtaining current identification so they are eligible for employment and government assistance programs.
During these events, Mears provides free transportation for these individuals to take advantage of IDignity’s services on event days. Often times, transportation is required to the federal courthouse or Social Security office to ensure proper paperwork is completed, and Mears ensures free and convenient transportation. To learn more about IDignity’s services, to volunteer or to donate, visit their website at: https://idignity.org/.
Special Olympics Florida
Special Olympics is a global movement of people creating a new world of inclusion and community, where every single person is accepted and welcomed, regardless of ability or disability. Special Olympics is all about courage, joy, unity, dignity, inclusion and tolerance. Mears is proud to support the Special Olympics Florida Gala each year. Coastal Conservation Association Florida (CCA Florida)
CCA Florida is dedicated to enhancing our state’s marine resources – including our water quality – and providing a voice for their members and the environment. Each year Mears participates in CCA’s annual fundraiser to support this critical mission. To learn more about CCA Florida and how you can help, please visit https://ccaflorida.org.
Charity Challenge was founded to bring Central Florida together by providing an opportunity to get involved in your community, have fun through spirited athletic competition and give back to charity. Since 1987, Charity Challenge has raised and awarded more than $6.4 million for local charities. Mears has longstanding history with the Charity Challenge through sponsorship and donation of transportation for silent auctions. To learn more, visit www.CharityChallengeInc.org.
We understand the importance of managing and reducing our impact on the environment.
